Hay fever is a common ailment that affects millions of people across the UK. It is a fever that affects people at certain times of the year, especially in the summer, and is believed to be an allergic reaction to pollen dust or spores. When a person gets hay fever, the sinuses, throat, nose and eyes get affected. Thus people suffering from this condition are observed to have a running nose, itchy eyes and sneeze often.

According to statistics from Benadryl, there are over 15 million people in the UK who suffer from hay fever. The condition hay fever is twice as common in the cities as in the countryside. It is said that over 95 per cent of people suffering from Hay fever have an allergic reaction to grass pollen. It is interesting to note that people who consume two glasses of wine per day have twice the risk of exhibiting hay fever symptoms than those who do not.

There are various ways of treating hay fever and reducing the severity of the symptoms. A good method of combating hay fever is by use of anti-allergy nasal sprays. These sprays act on the inside linings of the nose and help prevent the allergic reaction from taking place. Anti-allergy eye drops also have the same effect on the linings of the eyes.

Another useful treatment option is the use of sprays and decongestant tablets. These are very useful when dealing with blocked nasal passages and stuffy noses that are a regular occurrence in people suffering from Hay Fever.

People suffering Hay Fever allergic symptoms may also use anti-inflammatory nose drops or nasal sprays. These are recommended for everyday use and help reduce the resulting inflammation on the inside of the nose and nasal passages. Most of these anti-inflammatory medicines contain steroids.

The symptoms of hay fever can be relieved effectively by proper use of antihistamine nasal sprays and tablets. These symptoms include itchy throat, a running nose, wet eyes, sneezing and sniffles. These guidelines are useful in trying to control and treat hay fever.
