Macular degeneration associated with age (AMD) is an eye disorder that causes progressive vision loss and can cause total blindness. The most common presenting symptoms are:

*Blurred vision. Macular Degeneration
*Difficulties in the perception of straight lines drawn.
*Emergence of a black dot in the visual field.
*Increased sensitivity to light.

There are two types of macular degeneration: the dry or atrophic (most common) and wet or exudative (less frequent but more aggressive).
